* The 61st Annual Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament will be held in the blue waters off the coast of Kailua-Kona from Saturday, August 5th – Sunday, August 13th, 2023. The Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament is the second oldest big game sport fishing event in the world. The five-day tournament is built on prestige, trophies and strict International Game Fish Association rules for world records and does not include cash prizes. A worldwide audience and elite fishing enthusiasts from around the world participate, including Australia, Bahamas, Bermuda, British Isles, China, Fiji, Ireland, Japan, Kenya, South Korea, Papua New Guinea, Portugal, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Tahiti, Palau, Marshall Islands, New Caledonia, and Vanuatu. * The Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park and Pu`uhonua o Hōnauanu National Historic Park will waive entry fees on Friday, August 4, as part of the Great American Outdoors Act. The day honors the signing of the Great American Outdoors Act in 2020, which provides funding for infrastructure maintenance in the country's national parks, public lands, and Bureau of Indian Education-funded schools. August 4 is the perfect day to pay a visit to these parks and enjoy the beauty of the island from the mountains to the sea.
